The Cayman Islands Shipping Registry is hosting Crew Collective, a crew wellness initiative, ahead of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26. Participating crew can focus on their physical health, mental well-being, and professional future in one morning.
The morning will begin with yoga and meditation for crew, followed by sessions on mental health and a question-and-answer session with shoreside support providers. At 11:30 a.m., lunch will be served. From noon to 1 p.m., a Crew Resource Fair will open, with organizations attending and sharing their support options with crew. Each company represented is dedicated to either crew well-being or education.
The Cayman Islands Shipping Registry hopes to highlight efforts within the yachting industry that are intended for crew and, in some cases, created by crew. It also hopes to learn from crew on the ground, particularly what crew need from flag states, legal professionals, insurers, and other providers.
The Cayman Islands Shipping Registry held its first Crew Collective in Palm Beach ahead of this year’s Palm Beach International Boat Show, where 20 crewmembers attended. Participants enjoyed yoga, sound healing, social time, and healthy bites after work. This year’s FLIBS event aims to build on the success of the Palm Beach event with capacity for twice as many attendees.
Free registration is now open. The location of the event will be stated following approved registration. Showers will be available for use between sessions. A water station will be available. Attendees should bring their own water bottles, yoga mats, and towels, as yoga and meditation will take place outdoors on a patio.
