M/Y Hemdemim sank off the cost of Bodrum, Muğla, on Tuesday after experiencing engine failure while anchoring. The 26-meter yacht drifted due to wind after anchoring and collided with the breakwater and sustained damage, according to Turkish-based news outlet Haberler.
The yacht was being towed further out to sea when it rapidly took on water, causing it to sink. Two crewmembers were rescued by Coast Guard teams and a salvage operation was launched to recover the yacht. Its upper deck remained visible above the sea surface.
